Lift Chairs and Finding the Right Fabric

A lift chair is a personal lifting aid which has been designed to help those who have difficulty standing and sitting. People who suffer from mobility related problems, such as osteoarthritis or muscular dystrophy, frequently have trouble sitting. This is especially true in cases where you have been sitting for an extended period of time. A lift chair rises into the air and makes it very easy and safe to transfer from standing or sitting.

Lift chairs provide a very important service to people who are mobility challenged and are often doctor recommended. There are many different types and the two biggest manufacturers, Golden and Pride, manufacture many different models. There is a chair that will fit any home design and many also offer extra functionality. Space saver chairs are one popular type of lift chair, which can be placed very close to the wall and still recline.

With all the many different colors and fabrics available, it is easy to find something that will attractively fit your home. One very special type of fabric is a special polyurethane material called Brisa. Brisa is extremely stain resistant and almost all stains can be removed by simply using a damp soapy washcloth. Brisa comes in several different colors and is similar to suede.

Before you start looking at the many available lift chairs, it is a good idea to take a look at your existing furniture. This way you can compare the colors and fabrics that are available to your furniture and find something that will match nicely.

Improved Circulation Through Lift Chairs

Maintaining proper circulation is important for everyone, but especially so for those who are older or suffer from diseases like diabetes. In humans, the circulatory system is responsible for maintaining the movement of blood throughout the body.

Humans need air to breath and we use the oxygen that is found in air to feed our body. Our lungs actually only play a supporting role in the process of using oxygen. Bloods, a fluid that is found throughout the body, main purposes is to transport oxygen to the different parts of the body. Without blood transporting the oxygen, it would not matter how deeply we breathed air into our lungs, because the other parts of our body would not be able to get any oxygen.

The process of human blood circulation was first discovered by an Arabian doctor, named Ibn al-Nafis. He noticed that it is the heart that is the core of our circulatory system. The heart is a pump that pushes blood to the lungs to get oxygen, and then pushes it through the body. After the oxygen in the blood has been used, it is pushed back to the heart where the cycle begins again. We have a closed circulatory system which means that the blood is contained in small tubes called vessels. Under normal conditions our blood does not leave the vessels.

There are many diseases that can affect the circulation of our blood. Cardiovascular disease is a type of circulatory disease that can cause a whole array of adverse affects. It is infrequent that one particular thing causes poor circulation problems, but it is instead caused by many different factors. One common factor is age. As the body begins to get old, your arteries begin to harden, which results in poor circulation. Genetics, lifestyle choices, and diseases like diabetes also play a large part in this matter.

The exact treatment of circulatory problems greatly varies depending on the causes of the circulation problems. Often exercise and proper eating will go a very long way to both preventing and helping circulation problems. There are many different medicines available as well that can, in some cases, help with poor circulation.

Another way to help improve circulation is by sitting in the zero-gravity sitting position. This involves a reclined position in which the legs are higher than the head and at a slight angle. This position was developed as a way to ensure that NASA’s astronauts did not loose circulation when they were sent into space. The Golden MaxiComfort, a special lift chair recliner, can achieve the zero-gravity position and increase lung capacity and circulation. A lift chair is aimed to help people stand or sit through the use of a motorized raising base. This lift chair can, through a completely motorized system, recline into this position and also functions like a normal recliner. It is great for those with circulation problems.

Properly understanding and diagnosing your circulation problems is important, and as is often the case, much can be done to prevent some types of circulation problem. Things like fish, fruit, nuts, and vegetables have been shown to help prevent circulation problems, and your doctor will likely have some good ideas about things you can change in your life to help improve circulation.

Lift Chairs and the Fountain of Youth

Most everyone has heard the story of the Fountain of Youth. One popular story is of the well know Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon and his quest for the Fountain of Youth. Ponce de Leon sailed with Columbus on his second trip to what was to become the United States of America. Ponce decided to stay in Puerto Rico and became very well known. While Governor he heard many stories of a special place whose waters were said to keep you young. Ponce made it his quest to search for this magical place and while he never found it, he had many adventures along the way and helped to shape history.

Of course everyone knows there is no magical fountain of youth. So when your body starts to show its age, there is no magic potion that will restore your youth. There are, however, many ways to help you live more comfortably and keep your independence. So if you struggle getting up or sitting down a lift chair may be for you. A lift chair works by slowly raising you to a standing position or slowly lowering you to a sitting position. This eliminates a large amount of strain on the body and can make you feel better.

Another advantage of lift chairs is that they can relieve your dependence on your spouse or other loved one. Often as we get old our wife or husband will help take care of us. It is only natural and we would do the same for them if we were able. One of the hardest things for them is getting us in or out of our favorite chair. A lift chair can solve this problem with the push of a button and can literally save their body from undo strain and wear.

While there is no magical cure to old age, there are still many things that you can do to help manage its toll. A Lift Chair can literally restore your independence and save you money because you no longer have to rely on friends, family, or a paid nurse to get around your own home.
